Foundation programs

The foundation offers the following types of financial support:

  • Grants to research projects
  • Financing individual doctoral theses
  • Financing acquisitions and translations of books
  • Travelling scholarships for researchers
  • Arranging seminars.

General guidelines and how to apply

According to the by laws of the foundation research grants are in principle offered only to individuals, i.e. no general support is given to any particular institution or organisation. Supported programs shall start within six months from date of approved application. Delays or interruptions might cause end of financing.

Grants and scholarships are normally approved at board meetings held semi-annually. Applications shall be sent in writing to any of the the mail-addresses specified under “Contacts”. The board meetings are typically held in April and October respectively and for consideration we need your applicaiton documents 10 days before date of meeting (will be published on this web-site well in advace). Applications shall meet normal academic criteria.

Research projects

Application shall include a condensed statement describing the purpose, the time tables and the content of the project work. An itemised budget should be appended including data on complementary sources of financing.

Individual doctoral theses

Financing will depend primarily on the academic potential and the scholarly achievements of the applicant. Application shall include academic records and reference letters.

Acquisition and translation of books

Financing of acquisitions is restricted to books that can serve as teaching materials for students and post-graduates in the field of Business Administration. In arranging translations preference is given to books published with prior SIAR assistance.

Travelling scholarships

Financing is provided for research work at a university or business school outside of own country. This also applies for studies as a visiting student. It is awarded to outstanding postgraduate students on the basis of application and interview with a SIAR representative. The grant is intended to cover travelling expenses, living cost and tuition. Applications should be submitted upon obtaining preliminary acceptance from the hosting university.

Seminars

The foundation organises series of lectures and seminars held by professors and business executives in the field of Business Administration. Topics of lectures and seminars vary . Seminars are agreed upon with particular universities and institutions.
